The decision on preparing a detailed regulation plan for agricultural land near Banatski Despotovac was reached at the session of the city parliament. Even though it is not specified, the decision pertains to the procedure for raising Tonnies' farm.
Representatives of the authorities explained that the request for regulation had been sent from the Ministry of Agriculture. Mayor Cedomir Janjic confirmed that the decision pertained to Tonnies' farm, but he also said that he couldn't discuss the details, as he didn't have precise information and the procedure wasn't the responsibility of the city, but of the ministry.
The mayor emphasized that the foreign investment worth EUR 22 million would lead to numerous employments and to hiring local farmers as the German company's subcontractors.
No concrete reactions have yet come from Banatski Despotovac. The village authorities claim that the 50 hectares of state-owned land are several kilometers away from the village and that the unpleasant smell, warned about by environmentalists, won't reach its residents.
