Agreement with Serbia and Hungary on border railway traffic set - Shorter trains halts at borders

Minister of construction, transport and infrastructure Zorana Mihajlovic and Serbian Minister for National Development of Hungary Miklos Sestak agreed today that two countries sign an agreement on cross-border rail transport, which will allow retention of freight trains shortened from current 5-6 hours to about three hours, as well as shorter procedure of border control of passenger trains.

Sestak said Hungary is interested in financing the construction Fruskogorski corridor, and it was agreed that the Serbian side delivers project status, as well as dynamics of future activities, it was stated in the announcement of the Ministry of construction, transport and infrastructure of Serbia.

Sestak suggested Serbia and Hungary launch talks on cooperation in cycle tourism, including construction of tracks between the border crossings.

Mihajlovic and Sestak spoke about the project and the fast railway Belgrade-Budapest railway projects Subotica-Baja and Subotica-Szeged, as well as solving problems pointed out by Serbian carriers which refer to vignette system in Hungary.
