(Development center building) The international IT company Comtrade opened its new software development center in Maribor on Thursday, December 8. By expanding its capacities by 400 software engineers, Comtrade proves that it has ambitious plans for expansion, not just in the Slovenian market, where the company has been operating successfully for a number of years, but primarily in Western Europe, since projects in Maribor are being carried out with that market in mind.
Comtrade’s investment will contribute to the development of the local IT industry through promotion of new technologies, as well as through employment of software engineers and IT experts. This way, the company is helping the local community to keep highly qualified IT work force.
– With this investment, Comtrade once again confirms that Slovenia is playing a key role in the realization of our international strategy. With its development centers in Slovenia, Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as its network of offices in Ireland, USA, Austria, Dubai and the Philippines, the Comtrade Group is one of the most prominent IT companies in the region, employing the most promising experts in the area of IT solutions – pointed out the owner and president of the Comtrade Group, Veselin Jevrosimovic, at the opening ceremony.
He added that Comtrade’s mission had been from the very start to penetrate the world market with high quality, innovative technologies. Over the years, through partnerships with numerous world leaders such as Citrix, Ryanair, HP, Skrill, as well as scientific institutions such as CERN, the group’s vision of improving its clients’ operations and expanding the boundaries of innovation has been evident.
In addition to supporting the development of IT sector experts, the new software center in Maribor will open doors for local startups. Talented entrepreneurs will get an opportunity to use the business premises featuring modern equipment and develop their business in an innovative working environment.
The official opening of the Comtrade development center was supported by Sasa Pelko, deputy mayor of Maribor, Ales Cantarutti, state secretary of the Ministry of Economic Development and Technology of Slovenia, Aleksandar Radovanovic, ambassador of Serbia to Slovenia, all of whom attended the ceremony, along with numerous renowned guests from Slovenia’s economic and political life.
