KWS became the first foreign company in seed trade to establish a complete production chain in Serbia by opening a research and development center in the Stara Pazova Industrial Zone several days ago.

Pavle Sklenar, general manager of KWS, says that, when it comes to areas under their corn hybrids, only one company exceeds them in the EU.

– The EU results are relevant, as this is an area closest to us, both in soil characteristics and agricultural and climate conditions. If we are talking about the whole of Europe, we would place third, and if we're talking globally, KWS would share the third and the fourth place with the competition – Sklenar emphasizes.

KWS has invested more than EUR 30 million in the R&D center in Stara Pazova, with an area of 1,000 m2, on a 1.5 ha parcel, as well as the recently opened Finishing Center in Becej, in the past two years. Furthermore, 130 workers have been employed.

This 160-year-old company currently operates in more than 70 countries worldwide and employs over 4,800 people. KWS has been operating in Serbia since 2003 in the area of corn, sunflower, sugar beet, rapeseed, sorghum, rye and mustard seed cultivation.
