(Managing Board) The Serbian Private Equity Association (SPEA) elected the new Managing Board at its annual Assembly. The board will be headed in the next period by Branimir Gajic, member of the SEAF fund. In addition to Gajic, new board members are David Schoch of StarLabs, Petra Pohankova of Ernst & Young, George Sarcevich of Caelum Capital and Ivan Nonkovic of Karanovic-Nikolic Law Office.
– SPEA will continue to promote investment activities in the future, to the end of strengthening and promoting them to a wider business auditorium and create a synergy with them. We will continue doing this through various channels – events, seminars, presentations and cooperation with funds and companies – stated the newly elected president of SPEA, Branimir Gajic, regarding the association's upcoming plans.
The new Managing Board has been supported by a large number of the members of the Association and hopes that it will justify high expectations and continue being successful in all fields. Furthermore, the Managing Board has announced that it will get involved in the areas which have so far not been explored enough, the report states.
SPEA was founded in October 2010 at the Euromoney conference in Belgrade by a small group of experts very keen on initiating the development of the private equity industry in both Serbia and the region. Since then, more than 30 members have become involved in the association's work, participating in over 50 events both as hosts and partners. The association's mission is to advocate private equity and venture capital investments, as well as to serve as a forum for all companies and professionals active in the private equity market in Serbia.
Private equity funds are groups of investors managing considerable amounts of capital. They invest in promising enterprises with a strong potential for medium- and long-term (5 years on average) growth. Investments include active participation in running a company, very often a change of the operating strategy, management or the buy-out of debts in exchange for a capital share.
