Government failed to adopt Draft law on ratification of energy agreement between Serbia and Russia

Deputy Prime Minister of Serbia, Božidar Đelic, said that the Draft law on ratification of the energy agreement between Serbia and Russia had not been adopted at the meeting of the Government of Serbia, which was held on April 3rd, because technical government had no legal right to suggest laws to the Parliament of Serbia.

At the press conference that followed regular meeting of the Government of Serbia, Đelić said that all ministers had got announcement from the Republic Secretariat for Legislation where it was explained that, according to the Law on government, article 17, "the government whose mandate expired can only carry out current tasks - it can not submit draft laws or other general acts to the people's parliament".

- Ministers from the Democratic Party of Serbia voted for that law, while the ministers from DS cast abstention votes because they did not want to break the law - Đelić explained.


Party G17 plus announced earlier that the ministers from that party would not attend the meeting of the Govermnent.

Instead of draft law, the Government adopted te information that, on the basis of the signed energy agreement in Moscow on January 25, that document will remain in effect until it is ratified in the Parliament.
