Slovenia is looking at a great wave of privatization this year. The Slovenian Sovereign Holding (SDH) still owns stock in 22 companies meant to be sold. Nine companies from the list have been sold so far, but private Slovenian companies which will get new owners in 2017 are more interesting.

The most important of these is, of course, Outfit7, owned by Iza and Samo Login, authors of the Talking Tom application. Bloomberg reports that the value of this Slovenian company registered in London might reach EUR 600 million.

The famous Slovenian trailer manufacturer Adria Mobil should also be sold this year. The company is financially stable, has low debts and strong cash flow, which enables the servicing of all business liabilities and regular dividend payment. It has a share of 6.5% in the European market and is the sixth most successful European trailer manufacturer.

The fate of the formerly large Tus supermarket chain should be decided this January. It is expected that the purchaser of the majority of claims of Mirko Tus’ company will be selected this month. Furthermore, the new sale of the telecommunications operator Telemach, owned by the United Group of the KKR fund, has been talked about for some time now.

The operator T-2, which is in bankruptcy again, will also get a new owner. It has been alleged that the paper factory Vipap from Krsko will also be sold, but only after the debt has been restructured.

Certainly the most spectacular sale would be the sale of Studio Moderna, owned by Sandi Cesko. Formerly the richest Slovenian is now in the fifth place with EUR 184 million worth of property.

– Nothing is happening at the moment, but that doesn’t mean that it won’t at some point in the future – says Cesko in response to the question about the sale of the TV and online sales company.

Cimos, Cinkarna Celje, Unior to follow

When it comes to privatizing companies owned by the state, the sale of 55% share in Unior, most famous for hand tools manufacture, has been announced. The next company on the agenda is Cinkarna Celje. The sale of Cimos to the Italian Palladio Finanziaria fund has been agreed, but can’t be completed due to Cimos’ debt to the Croatian DAB.
