"Delta agrar" invested 5m EUR in apple orchard in Čelarevo
Company "Delta agrar", a part of "Delta Holding", has announced that it invested 5m EUR in apple orchard at 100 ha in Čelarevo, for the forming of which the up-to-date technology from Italian region of South Tirol was used.
- The orchard has 400,000 nursery plants of six sorts of apple, and the technology of the Italian region, which is the world's leader in production of that fruit, includes anti-hail protection, anti-frost system, meteorological station and irrigation system - said the orchard project manager Miloš Živković.
- Last year, apple was planted on 30 ha. This year, total of 70 ha will be planted with the following apple sorts: galla, breburn, golden delicious, red delicious, green smith, while organic apple production will be organized at 30 ha - he specified during the walk through the orchard at Podunavlje farm and added that all nursery plants had been bought in Italy.
- In five years, when the orchard reaches the phase of full exploitation, it is expected that maximum production will amount to 7 tons of apple per hectare, which is twice as much as classical production - said Živković and added that every tree should yield 17-20 kg of apple.
