Fifth EY Entrepreneur of the Year selection – Take a look at the finalists for the prestigious award

(From the press conference) In the fifth year of the program for the selection of the EY Entrepreneur of the Year, 32 candidates from 29 companies applied, operating in seven industries in 14 cities in Serbia. These companies employ more than 1,500 people, and in 2015 alone, they had a total income of more than EUR 100 million, an average growth of around 60% compared to 2012. In the same period, the number of employees increased by around 75% on average, it was said yesterday at the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia during the presentation of the candidates.

The 2016 award saw the largest number of applicants since 2012, when the advisory and audit company EY initiated this global program in Serbia as well, aiming to promote the entrepreneurial spirit and initiative and acknowledge the people who achieved success through their own persistence, vision and innovation.

Ivan Rakic, EY Country Managing Partner for Serbia, stated that, since 2012, they had had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the operations of 120 companies from various industries, which had an income higher than EUR 630 million in 2015 alone. Furthermore, these companies had more than 11,000 employees at the end of 2015.

The general sponsor of the EY Entrepreneur of the Year program is ProCredit Bank. Ivan Smiljkovic, member of the bank’s Executive Board, stated that supporting the development of local economy was one of the main goals in ProCredit’s fifteen years of operations in Serbia.

The winner will be officially pronounced on February 23, at the Hyatt Regency hotel in Belgrade, and the Serbian representative will be a candidate for the EY World Entrepreneur of the Year award and attend the ceremony in Monte Carlo in June 2017.
