Ore transport for Zelezara Smederevo once again though Port of Rijeka

(Illustration) The capesize bulk carrier Blue Lhotse, with the total length of 292 meters, is being unloaded at the Port of Rijeka. It has delivered 167,200 tons of iron ore to the bulk cargo terminal in Bakar.

Most of the cargo is transported through the Port of Rijeka to Hungary, and, in line with the decision of the Hungarian partner, certain amounts delivered by the ship will be sent to Serbia for the needs of the Smederevo steel mill, as reported by seebiz.eu.

The Hungarian business partner in question is initiating overseas import of raw materials for its steel mill in Hungary after a whole year. It traditionally uses the Port of Rijeka and the transport route over Rijeka for the delivery of iron ore from overseas destinations.

It should be emphasized that bulk cargo hasn't been shipped through the Port of Rijeka to Zelezara Zmederevo since before the war. This is a good opportunity for the Port of Rijeka and the Rijeka transport route to get established as a competitive port and route for oversees delivery of bulk cargo in the Serbian market as well, seebiz.eu says.
