Wizz Air, the biggest low-cost airline in Central and East Europe, announced on Thursday, February 16, that it would open its 28th base on June 18, 2017, at the London Luton Airport and that a new Airbus A320 would be stationed there. Even though Wizz Air has been present at the airport for more than 12 years, this will be its first operating base on an airport in Great Britain.

By establishing the new base, Wizz Air will strengthen its operating presence at the London Luton Airport, where it has already become the second biggest airline, and will increase the number of routes it maintains at the airport to 42.

Wizz Air's three new lines will link Luton to Pristina, Tel Aviv and Kutaisi (Georgia), and the number of flights to some of their most popular destinations will be increased at the same time, which will be enabled by bringing the new airplane to the base.

In 2016, Wizz Air, as the second biggest airline at Luton, transported more than 5 million passengers. In 2017, Wizz Air will have nearly 6.3 million seats available for sale in all its Luton lines combined, a capacity increase of 13%.
