Europe gets first Instagram president

Slovenian President Borut Pahor, who used to model during his studies, often posts on Intasgram, the American portal Politico says and compares him to his American colleague, Donald Trump, who uses Twitter.
Pahor, who offered to have Slovenia mediate in the meeting between the presidents of Russia and America, has inspired Instagram users to create the #boruting hashtag, used by Slovenians when they want to parody him.
If Trump is a “Twitter president”, then his Slovenian colleague is an “Instagram president”, Politico writes, illustrating it with Pahor's photographs from this social network.
Just before the Slovenian presidential election of 2012, Pahor posed for a calendar, presenting himself in various roles, among others as a butcher, a sanitation worker and a hairdresser, which helped him win the election, the portal says.
The Slovenian president has more than 22,000 followers on Instagram, the number equaling around 1% of the population of Slovenia, and his photographs often have 2,000 and more likes.
The president's cabinet has reported that he is directly involved in managing his Instagram account, with help from assistants.
Public opinion polls show that Pahor is on his way to being re-elected in October.
According to the survey published by the Delo newspaper, 52% of Slovenians have a positive opinion of Pahor, with only 16% having a negative opinion.
