Minel FEPO, a former Zrenjanin giant, has gotten a new owner recently. The Belgrade-based company Uniprom bought the company for RSD 215 million, and the new owner, Sinisa Kocic, wants to restart the production and to return the company's products to foreign markets, where it once used to do business more than successfully.

Kocic adds that the plan is to employ 40 workers in the first phase, whereas the strengthening of the market position and the systematization should lead to the employment of around a hundred workers.

– In this phase, we nee experts in various fields – electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, technologists, chemical engineers, economists and others, for positions of technical director, executive director, leading technologist, production manager, commercial director, quality management engineer, sales manager for markets outside Serbia, product constructor, technical preparation engineer and leading accountant. Immediately afterwards, we will need metalsmiths, locksmiths, machinists, founders, chemical technicians, administrative workers – he explains.

Kocic also says that an additional investment of EUR 1.5 million in Minel FEPO is needed, in line with the business plan, and that investments in working assets, certificates needed for unobstructed local and foreign marketing, as well as equipment and lab service are a priority.

– There will be a test run in March already, so that we could send the first products to accredited international laboratories and have them re-attested. This is all for the purpose of reacquiring the certificates owned by Minel locally and abroad, which need to be renewed this way. This is the pre-requirement for Minel FEPO's products to be reintroduced to the markets where they used to be present – says the new owner of the Zrenjanin factory.

The first steps, as he says, will be to repair the facilities, the heating system and all installations. Following that, a major overhaul of the current production equipment needs to be performed and investments in new, modern equipment need to be made as well.
