The renowned military portal Jane's has presented the Serbian armored vehicle Lazar 3, emphasizing its strong steel chassis, eight-wheel drive and sophisticated modular ballistic protection system.

Jane's says that the vehicle has a more powerful engine, automatic transmission, as well as numerous other modifications compared to the previous version. The innovations have been developed based on previous user experience, RTS reports.

The crew normally consists of three persons, a commander, a driver and a gunner, and the vehicle can accommodate an additional nine soldiers. However, the number of people in the vehicle depends on the weapon system installed.

The driver and the commander enter the front of the vehicles through a side door. Both also have a roof-mounted hatch available.

The vehicle weighs a total of 26,000 kilograms, but can reach up to 32,000 with potential upgrades and heavier weapons.

Various weapon systems can be mounted to the basic version of Lazar 3.

Lazar 3 was also presented at the recently held Abu Dhabi IDEX, where it attracted the visitors' attention. The representatives of Jugoimport SDPR said on the occasion that Lazar 3 offered a better quality-price ratio than the Finnish Patria, which is considered the best in its class.
