The arrangements of the Novi Sad-based company Novkabel with their partners from Russia and China are producing great results, and the cooperation is expanding. Following the first shipments, the workers continue to produce new amounts for foreign clients.

As confirmed by Managing Director Zoran Stanojevic to Novosti, the shipment of 60-ton cables for Huawei, worth half a million euros, has already been realized.

– We are preparing a new series of optical and TC cables worth a slightly lower amount. We are also completing a EUR 2.5 million arrangement with our Russian partners, who have already said that they need new cable shipments. We are also a part of a big project worth EUR 2.5 billion. The project in question is the construction of a whole new city – Stanojevic is pleased.

The arrangement with the multinational company from China is no less significant. After two months of check-ups and ten negotiation rounds, our cable producer has signed a contract with Huawei, which is supposed to secure regular engagements in the next four years. More precisely, the Chinese have been awarded the project of the full upgrade of the Telekom Srbija system, and the Novi Sad company is a party to the contract.

– After a rough period for the company, we’ve proven with this shipment that we are a serious producer, which is another confirmation of our economic patriotism. I believe that any job which enables the factory to survive and operate successfully is very significant for the development of the whole country as well – Stanojevic said.

From bankruptcy to profit

Until half a year ago, Novkabel was looking at bankruptcy, but, following the adoption of the PPRP and an agreement with the biggest creditors, Elektroprivreda Srbije and Srbijagas, on restructuring the debt, the danger has been eliminated.

– We have entered the restructuring program, and it should take three months. We’ve hired a renowned audit company for this purpose, and I expect great results and a full upgrade, from the machine system to the production lines and programs, so that we could be profitable – Stanojevic points out.
