People of Serbia will be able to see the biggest dome mosaic in the world in Vracar by the end of this year at the latest. Immediately after Easter, the preparation of the first freighters to leave Moscow carrying the tiles made so far is to start, academy member Nikolaj Muhic, who is running the demanding works on the project, reveals for Novosti.

– We first thought about transporting it to Belgrade by plane, but we decided against it, as the price would have been too high due to the great weight.

With this, the church will have received a strong artistic stamp, making it recognizable globally. Novosti's interviewee is very satisfied that a great job has been done and has no doubt that people of Serbia and guests will be delighted with this magnificent work.

– Large tiles will be cut into smaller pieces, they will be well protected and then loaded onto the trucks to be transported to Belgrade. The central part, the image of Christ Pantocrator, has already been prepared to be transported to Serbia – says Nikolaj Muhin.

In order for the mosaic to be mounted on the dome, a special lift needs to be installed, as well as the equipment for affixing the mosaic to the dome.

Let us remind that Gazprom Neft has set aside EUR 4 million for the preparation of the mosaic.
