The Jugoslavija Hotel without a buyer again, Nova Skolska Knjiga (New School Book) bought BIGZ, Nenad Popovic bought Minel electrooprema (electro-equipment), and Ljubica Jovicic the Old Mercator
The Jugoslavija Hotel, at the second in a row auction in the Agency for Privatization, has not got the new owner. Even though the Agency predicted that the hotel might be sold for 42,4 million dinars, which was the price of the hotel at the first auction, that did not happen even when the sale price was decreased to 38,1 million dinars. The minister of agriculture Predrag Bubalo commented that the cause of buyers’ disinterestedness for buying the Jugoslavija Hotel lies most probably in the fact that the owner, Dunav Insurance, overestimated the value of the hotel.
Bubalo stressed that the Agency should announce around 18 tenders by the end of 2005, and in the group of the companies that will be on sale there are IMT from Belgrade, IMR from Rakovica, FAP from Priboj and the Factory of railway wagons from Kraljevo. The tender for Prva petoletka will also be repeated which requires the new program of restructuring with the debt signed off.
16 companies were offered at the auction, and 8 sales were accomplished. The greatest price was reached at the company Jugocentar from Belgrade (the old Mercator). This famous trade center was sold at the price of 300 million dinars, and the buyer is Ljubica Jovicic.
The company Nova Skolska Knjiga from Belgrade bought 70% capital of the publishing house BIGZ at the starting price of 48,1 million dinars. The BIGZ owns the building in Belgrade of 2.480 m2 and 93 m2 of business space in Zagreb.
Nenad Popovic, a businessman who has a company ABS holding in Moscow, bought the company Minel elektrooprema and the plants in Belgrade at the starting price of 124,6 million dinars.
