Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Zorana Mihajlovic stated on Sunday, May 14, 2017, in Beijing that the construction of the Preljina-Pozega section of the highway to Montenegro might start next year, the ministry reported.

– Following the signing of the memorandum, we are to prepare the necessary documentation and this may be completed by the end of the year – said Zorana Mihajlovic, who had signed two memorandums of cooperation with the Chinese company CRBC on projects worth a total of EUR 2.5 billion.

The first agreement on the construction of the highway to the Montenegrin border on Corridor 11, for the sections from Preljina to Pozega and from Pozega to Boljare, encompasses 140 kilometers of road. The first estimates say that the construction of these sections would cost around EUR 2.1 billion.

The second agreement pertains to the construction of one of the most important traffic routes in Vojvodina, the Fruska Gora Corridor, that is, the high-speed section from Novi Sad to Ruma, which also contains the tunnel through Fruska Gora. The length of this section is 123 kilometers, and the value has been estimated at around EUR 400 million.

Mihajlovic said that the realization of these projects would bring new jobs for local companies.
