Wizz Air initiated four new routes and an increase of passenger traffic by 27% in the first four months of 2017 compared to the corresponding period of 2016.
The modern Airbus A320 plane with 180 seats is to fly from Belgrade to Friedrichshafen, Nuremberg, Hanover and Malta.
The new airplane is Wizz Air's investment of an additional USD 99 million in Serbia. Another 36 people have been employed at the Wizz base in Belgrade.
On Friday, May 19, Wizz made its first flights from Belgrade to Friedrichshafen and Nuremberg, on Saturday, May 20, the flight to Hanover was established, and on Sunday, May 21, the plane set off for Malta.
The new routes, which Serbian travelers have been expecting for a long time, will be available twice a week to all four destinations. In addition to the new routes, Wizz will also increase the number of flights to some of the most popular destinations from Belgrade, offering more options for the passengers traveling to Malmo (five flights a week), Dortmund and Eindhoven (four flights a week), Gothenburg, Munich-Memmingen and Stockholm-Skavsta (three flights a week).
Almost 190,000 Serbian passengers have traveled in 2017 so far thanks to Wizz Air's cheap airline tickets, an increase of 27% compared to the corresponding period of 2016. The new, second plane, will increase the capacity by 39% in 2017, which will enable the company to offer more than 835,000 seats on 20 routes to 7 countries from two Serbian airports in Belgrade and Nis.
