Strategy for Development of Information Security of Serbia until 2020 adopted

On May 29, the Government of Serbia adopted the Strategy for Development of Information Security until 2020, confirming the state's preparedness to face global challenges of protection of data and information systems, said State Secretary at the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications Tatjana Matic.

– Among other things, the strategy dictates raising awareness of the subject in both parents and children, strengthening the role of schools through adequate school programs, raising teachers' capacity, as well as raising the capacity of institutions such as the Ministry of Internal Affairs, social service centers and health institutions – Matic said.

She noted that the strategic plan also included the strengthening of the role of a unified location for providing advice and receiving complaints regarding the safety of children on the internet, as well as defining the measures enabling the limitation of exposure of children to inappropriate content on a technical level.

The Government of Serbia appointed Tatjana Matic as the head of the Body for coordination of information security activities at yesterday's session.

The strategy defines priority areas: ICT system security, information security of citizens, countering high-tech crime, information safety of the Republic of Serbia and international cooperation.

The adoption of this strategy is part of fulfillment of Serbia's obligations in the field of information security within the process of accession to the European Union.
