Construction of luxurious hotel near Kalemegdan stopped until archaeological diggings are completed

Long-announced construction of magnificient hotel-business complex between Knez Mihailova and Vasina Street will be, most likely, postponed for another few years. Thus, one of the most attractive locations in the city center in Rajićeva Street will remain vacant until numerous problems are solved.

The problems are related to the parcel next to restaurant "Park", near Kalemegdan, and they concern the whole series of unresolved ownership-legal relations.

According to the words of Ilija Bajić, the Executive Manager of "Union inženjering", the company that is co-investor, the ownership relations have been resolved, and the new owner of the lot - company "ABD", is experiencing certain difficulties with financial structure, that is, they are lacking money, so that commencement of construction will be postponed for some time.

In addition, that is the location where the final phase of archaelogical researches should be carried out because there is a road underneath the future building site that once led to former Roman military camp.
