Serbia and Greece sign six interstate agreements – Greeks to recognize Serbian driver's licenses

Six interstate agreements were signed between Serbia and Greece on July 13, and the signing in Thessaloniki was attended by President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic and Prime Minister of Greece Alexis Tsipras.

The ministers of foreign affairs of the two countries, Ivica Dacic and Nikos Kotzias, signed a Memorandum of Understanding in the field of culture between the Ministry of Culture and Information of Serbia and the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Greece for the period from 2017 through 2021, as well as a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Serbia and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Greece on cooperation in the field of diplomacy training.

Dacic and Minister of Infrastructure and Transport of Greece Christos Spirtzis signed a Memorandum of Understanding between Serbia and Greece on development of railway transport, and the agreement on social insurance was signed by Minister of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications of Serbia Rasim Ljajic and Kotzias.

Minister Ljajic also signed an agreement between the Government of Serbia and the Government of Greece on cooperation in the field of tourism with Minister of Tourism of Greece Elena Kountoura.

The agreement between Serbia and Greece on mutual recognition of driver's licenses were signed by Minister of Internal Affairs of Serbia Nebojsa Stefanovic and Minister of Infrastructure and Transport of Greece Christos Spirtzis. Serbian citizens living in Greece will thereby be able to replace their current valid Serbian driver's licenses with equivalent Greek ones, without having to take the theoretical and practical driving test first.

As stated in the press release by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Greek citizens living in Serbia will also be able to replace their licenses in the same manner.

The first session of the High Council for Cooperation of Serbia and Greece, agreed during Tsipras' visit to Belgrade in early 2017 to the end of turning traditional friendship and economic interests into a solid form of cooperation, is also being held in Thessaloniki.
