By signing an agreement with the Italian company Bedeschi, the Kikinda-based company Toza Markovic initiated an important phase of investments directed at raising technological capacities in the field of roof tile production.

A year after going out of bankruptcy and with an inheritance from a bad privatization, TM secures its place in the market and its further development by new investments alone, which is also the requirement for meeting the obligations arising from the reorganization plan.

This March, a new line for digital tile printing was initiated, and the realization of an investment directed at raising technological capacities in the field of roof tile production, worth EUR 1.5 million, is in progress.

– We agreed the production and delivery of the equipment with Italy’s Bedeschi, a renowned global producer, by the end of the year, and test runs and capacity proving should take place in January and February. We expect Toza Markovic to provide two new models of roof tiles of larger size, Classic and 333, that is, Velika Kikinda, beginning with March, that is, the start of the new building season – director Vladimir Ilic says.

With the reorganization plan, the Kikinda factory has also taken over the obligations towards the creditors and the inherited debts, which are to be repaid over the next ten years. The true effects of new products will only be apparent once the new building season starts, so TM expect an extension of the grace period to another six months to a year in the upcoming negotiations with banks, as the biggest creditors.

– A new product simply needs to find its place in the market and to be implemented into our business results before we can start operating optimally. Our annual liabilities of EUR 2.5 million are very serious – Ilic says.

Only a year after going out of bankruptcy, TM has to make up for the time lost during the bad privatization and the factory’s deterioration. A further development of TM is of great importance for its 625 workers and the economy of Kikinda on the whole.
