Delta Real Estate, a member of Delta Holding, signed an agreement on the acquisition of the shopping center in Varna, the second biggest city in Bulgaria and an important tourist center on the Black Sea, with Bulgaria's AP Investments on September 4, 2017.
The agreement is worth EUR 120 million, and the shopping center, the construction of which will be finalized in partnership with the Bulgarian company, will be named Delta Planet.
The finishing works on the facility, to be performed by the Bulgarian company Planex, are to start in the upcoming days. They are expected to be completed by May 2018, when the shopping center is scheduled to open.
– Delta Real Estate continues expanding strategically in the field of real estate. It is my pleasure to be able to officially announce the opening of another construction site in an EU country, in Bulgaria – the company's CEO, Zorana Zdrale Burlic, said following the signing of the agreement.
She stated that the new shopping mall, Delta Planet in Varna, will have three floors and three underground parking levels.
– The shopping center will feature around 160 various-purpose outlets, whereas the movie theater with 12 halls will be the biggest one in Serbia – Zorana Zdrale Bulic said.
The plan is to bring new, world-renowned fashion brands, to the center, and the green roof-garden, providing a view to the city and the Black Sea is a special highlight, making the facility, as they say “unique in the area”.
AP Investments to invest in Serbian health sector?
Delta's partner in this project, the Sofia-based company AP Investments, headed by two famous Bulgarian entrepreneurs, Angel Angelov and Peter Dudolenski, already has a large number of investments in the development of real estate, healthcare, commerce and retail in Bulgaria.
Dudolenski says that he is “certain that the project with Delta will be excellent” and adds that big foreign companies are already interested in the project.
He added that he expected Delta to be their long-term strategic partner in Bulgaria, just like Turkey's Acibadem is in the healthcare sector. The Bulgarian and the Turkish company run the Acibadem City Clinic, by far the biggest private healthcare system in Bulgaria, together, and there's a possibility of involving Serbia in the cooperation.
Angelov, also the head of the Acibadem City Clinic, said while answering a question by the president of Delta Holding, Miroslav Miskovic, at yesterday's conference in Belgrade, that Serbia was an interesting market in the healthcare sector and that they were intensively considering entering it.
– We might soon officially announce our investment in Serbia in the field of healthcare – Angelov said.
Delta Holding, however, did not wish to comment on the potential cooperation with the Bulgarian company in this project as well.
Construction shopping center in Nis to start in February, projects in Belgrade on hold
Delta Holding started building the Delta Planet shopping mall in Banjaluka this June, whereas Hotel InterContinental Ljubljana recently welcomed its first guests, and the official opening is scheduled for September 27.
Senior Vice President of Delta Holding, Marija Desivojevic Cvetkovic, said that Delta would also start building a shopping center in Nis in February 2018, and that the permits were yet to be acquired for three projects in Belgrade, among them the shopping center in Autokomanda.
