Abu Dhabi to get its Louvre in November 2017

The capital of the United Arab Emirates, Abu Dhabi, will get its own version of Louvre in November. Numerous artworks borrowed from several French museum will be exhibited there.

The museum will open on November 11 and will be the first one of its kind in the Arab world.

– It will be a cradle of art and culture – Prince Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan said and tweeted that the museum would strengthen the “global cultural presence” of the UAE.


The museum building is the work of French architect Jean Nouvel.

The museum, which was supposed to open back in 2013 on the Saadiyat Island, will feature artworks borrowed from 13 French museums.
