Another 60 workers in Livnica Kikinda will be pronounced surplus workers in October and leave the company with an adequate severance package. The majority of them applied for voluntary leaving, whereas the rest of the workers are forced to leave.

The new owner of Livnica Cimos in Kikinda, an Italian investment fund from Vicenza, which took over the company several months ago, will send another 60 workers home as part of the new business organization. The Confederation of Autonomous Trade Unions of Serbia points out that 90% of them have applied for voluntary leaving, whereas the others are forced to leave.

According to the new collective agreement, the severance payment is now slightly higher than before and amounts to EUR 150 per year of service – says Ilija Drljic, a representative of the Confederation of Autonomous Trade Unions of Serbia.

Cimos points out in its press release that it continues to carry out the business restructuring in all the regions where they have production facilities. This involves a range of measures on various levels of organization, among them selling, closing down or letting workers go with severance payments, they add.

After this group of workers leaves, Livnica Kikinda will have 520 employees.

– When it comes to the current year, there will be no more layoffs, and I believe that it will not happen in the upcoming years either – Drljic says.

Mass layoffs in Livnica Kikinda began in 2014. Around 1,300 workers have left this foundry, a former car industry giant, since the privatization of 2004.

The workers of FAM Secanj, a member of Livnica Kikinda, that is, of the Slovenian car component company Cimos, were also recently sent on a departmental leave, from which they will not be returning to their jobs.
