Yumco opens new facility, Balistika – Jobs for another 150

Yumco opened a new facility in Vranje on September 19, Balistika, which will produce protective ballistic equipment. The investment is worth half a million euros and the facility will employ another 150 workers, 50 this year and another 100 in 2018.

The new facility is located in the company's warehouse premises, where protective ballistic equipment, such as bulletproof vests, gloves and plates, will be produced alongside the uniforms for members of the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Internal Affairs and protective work suits.

General Manager of Yumco, Branislav Trajkovic, said that the company would produce 20,000 protective plates and 10,000 protective equipment kits a day at the new facility.

Prime Minister Ana Brnabic officially cut the ribbon together with Trajkovic, Mayor of Vranje Slobodan Milenkovic, Minister of Labor Zoran Djordjevic and Minister of Economy Goran Knezevic.

Brnabic said that she was glad that Yumco was back on the path of success and that it wasn't just a matter of the creation of 150 new jobs, but also the fact that the new facility will open new markets.

– It's not just a matter of 150 jobs, although each job is important. This also means an increase in the production potential for export of our arms industry. Yumco is slowly returning to all world markets and the opening of the new facility will contribute to this – she said.

Brnabic said that Serbia's economic development was impossible without a local economic development and that it was important for each local self-government to support such new investments so that they could be realized more quickly.

Milenkovic said that the stability in the company's operations, which had gone through a difficult period in the preceding few years, had been achieved thanks to the help provided by the Government of Serbia.

The prime minister and ministers Djordjevic and Knezevic took a tour of the facilities Tkacnica, Dorada and Konfekcija, as well as the new facility, Balistika.
