The public review of the urban project for the construction of the second facility within the Mei Ta complex in Baric is in progress and will last until October 6, 2017.
The plan is for the new facility to be located on a 17.2-ha parcel, and the carrier of the urban project is BIRO 59 Belgrade.
Mei Ta told eKapija that they couldn't communicate with the public about their operations in Serbia at the moment.
Let us remind that Mayor of Belgrade Sinisa Mali announced back in November 2016 that the company might build another facility in Baric in the second phase of the project. Mali emphasized at the time that the Chinese company had thereby confirmed that it would realize the second phase of the project and employ, in addition to 770 workers in the first phase, a total of 1,400 people.
Mei Ta, as said at the time, announced that they would buy another parcel, which would bring the area taken up by the two factories in the Baric Industrial Zone up to 34 hectares.
The works on the first facility started in April 2016, when the then prime minister of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, laid down the foundation stone.
Mei Ta is supposed to produce engine mountings and blocks, turbochargers and other components for renowned car brands, such as Renault, Ford, BMW and Daimler in the facilities in Baric.
The Memorandum of Understanding on the investment of Mei Ta in the construction of Obrenovac facilities was signed in November 2014 at the Government of Serbia.
