Popovic pointed out that over 250 doctors of science worked at the Vinca Nuclear Institute and the Nuclear Facilities of Serbia.
– Those systems are among the biggest science capacities of Serbia – Popovic said and added that there was great potential for cooperation between Serbian and Russian scientists in the field of peaceful uses of nuclear technology.
He said that Serbia wanted to cooperate with Russian science and research organizations, scientists and innovative companies in the field of atomic energy and its usage in medicine, agriculture and industry.
Popovic and Likhachev pointed out that one of the possible forms the cooperation between the Vinca Nuclear Institute and Rosatom might take was a joint investment in the production of cyclotronic radiopharmaceuticals and implementation of proton therapy in medicine.
The development of medical products would be meant for the entire Balkan region, which has been discussed before, Popovic said and added that Russian partners were interested in providing help to the Nuclear Facilities of Serbia.
The Nuclear Facilities of Serbia is the only company in Serbia whose activities entail safe handling of nuclear facilities and radioactive waste, and it was therefore agreed for the company to send its experts for training to Rosatom, Popovic said.
