(Miodrag Kostic) Serbian businessman Miodrag Kostic is interested in purchasing Mercator-S, the retail chain of the ruined Agrokor in Serbia, the key company operating within Slovenia’s Mercator in the country, Siol.net writes on October 21, citing unnamed sources.

As reported, Kostic has bought out the claims of Austrian and Italian banks towards Mercator for around EUR 28 million in the past few weeks.

Furthermore, his negotiations with the consortium of banks which lent Mercator an additional EUR 14 million for the purchase of claims towards Mercator, are close to completion, the portal reports, without naming its sources, as reported by Hina.

The portal reminds that Kostic has invested great amounts in real estate, the tourism industry and banking in Slovenia so far.

The first investment Kostic made in Slovenia was the purchase of the Kempinski hotel in Portoroz for EUR 24 million in 2015. He is also among the bigger shareholders of Gorenjska Banka, where he is looking to buy the majority ownership stake from Slovenian funds.
