As RTS says, in addition to MSK, solutions through privatization or a strategic partnership are being sought for Azotara and Petrohemija as well. The three factories of the chemical complex employ nearly 3,000 workers between them.
MSK has already hired a privatization consultant, as two letters of interest by investors were sent at the previous public invitation.
The Ministry of Economy said that they were negotiating with them and that a tender for privatization was being prepared. Three letters of interest were sent for Azotara, and Srbijagas, the majority owner, has already initiated the beginning of the privatization process.
– The Government's Working Group for solving the statuses of the companies from the chemical complex is monitoring Azotara's operations on a weekly basis, and the privatization consultant is currently preparing an analysis of the manner and the possibilities of the factory's continued operations. The Working Group has reached the decision on further activities related to Azotara based on the results of this study, which is expected to be completed soon – the Ministry of Economy announced.
Dragan Stevanovic, representative of the Association for Chemical, Rubber and Non-metal Industry at the CCIS, said that HIP Petrohemija had positive operating results, unlike MSK and Azotara.
– The main reason for this is the price of gas used in these two plants, not as an energy source, but as the basic raw material in the production – Stevanovic said.
