The Rastina border crossing will be the second border crossing in the territory of Sombor for road traffic towards Hungary. The works on the construction of a road transport terminal, in which both the Hungarian and the Serbian customs and police will be located, are in progress on the Hungarian side.

Serbia is in charge of traffic routes. One part is already finished, the road from the border crossing to the Rastina turning, financed by the Roads of Serbia with RSD 85 million.

As Miodrag Petrovic, the head of the urban planning department, says, the City of Sombor has secured three million for technical documentation.

– This is a 1.76-km section, meant for freight transport. The construction of the section to Gakovo, 4.6 km long and 6.5 m wide, will continue in spring – Petrovic says.

The Roads of Serbia will secure an additional RSD 140 million for the section which should be completed in spring.

A lot is expected from the re-categorization of the passenger crossing Backi Breg into a freight crossing.

According to the plan, all the jobs should be completed in 2018, when the crossing is to open, in line with the interstate agreement between Serbia and Hungary. The working hours will be 7 am till 7 pm.
