Majda Krsikapa irrevocably resigned from the position of the director of the Anti-Corruption Agency. The Board of the Agency accepted the resignation on November 13.

At the phone session, the Agency's Board reached the decision on the cessation of Krsikapa's public function, considering her irrevocable resignation of November 13, the Agency announced.

At the same session, as stated, the Board of the Agency unanimously elected Verka Atanaskovic the acting director of the Anti-Corruption Agency.

It was also agreed for the Board to reach the decision on opening a public contest for the new director of the Agency at the next session. Krsikapa is former Secretary of the High Court Council. She was appointed director of the Anti-Corruption Agency on September 6 by unanimous vote, and she previously worked at the Supreme Court of Serbia and the Supreme Court of Cassation.

The Agency did not have a director from December 2016, when Tatjana Babic resigned from the function after being appointed judge at the Constitutional Court.

After Babic left, the Agency failed to elect a new director on two occasions. At the first contest, the Board didn't elect the president, as neither of the candidates had received a sufficient number of votes.

A total of 13 applications were sent at the time, one of which was rejected, as it had failed to include proof of meeting the requirements. Twelve candidates were invited, nine of which were interviewed.

At the session of February 8, following the discussion, no candidate got the required majority of votes, and the board decided to open a new contest. The second attempt failed as well, as the mandate of the Board members had expired in the meantime.

Following the appointment of four new members of the Board of the Anti-Corruption Agency at the National Assembly of Serbia, the constitutional session of this institution was held on August 23, when the election process continued with the formation of the three-member commission which interviewed all candidates who had met the basic requirements of the contest, 18 of the 21 who had applied.
