The Latvian national airline airBaltic confirmed that it was considering re-launching flights to Belgrade and continuing to expand to the Croatian coast, EX-YU Aviation News reports.

– We are always discussing Belgrade. Belgrade is very interesting to us and it has a lot of potential. It is on the list of routes we are considering for launching, and of all the destination we might fly to, we would definitely fly there – says Director General of airBaltic, Martin Gauss.

The Latvian airline launched flights between Riga and Belgrade in 2009, but the route got suspended two years later despite the results’ being better than expected.

The flights were discontinued along with several other destinations, because the company was struggling with financial problems and a fleet shortage.

During the next summer season, airBaltic will present a new seasonal service between Riga and Split, and the airline is already operating the route between Dubrovnik and Rijeka.
