Support to Dina card system - NBS and China UnionPay sign Memorandum of Understanding

The National Bank of Serbia and the China National Card System China UnionPay (CUP) signed a Memorandum of Understanding that sets out the basis for future cooperation between the national card system of the Republic of Serbia - DinaCard and the largest card system in the world - the China National Card System China UnionPay.

The Memorandum was signed by the Governor of the National Bank of Serbia, Jorgovanka Tabaković and Shi Wenchao, President of China UnionPay, during a visit by a high delegation of the Chinese company to Belgrade and the National Bank of Serbia.

The areas in which the two national card systems will cooperate relate primarily to enabling the acceptance of UnionPay cards on the entire receiving network in the Republic of Serbia, enabling the acceptance of DinaCard cards abroad in the UnionPay acceptance network and the improvement of the DinaCard system regarding the use of new technologies, NBS communicated.

Thanks to cooperation, which is of great importance to the National Bank of Serbia, the DinaCard system will have at its disposal the most modern payment technologies and standards, the support of the global leader in card business and the receiving network, which will comprise more than 41 million commercial locations (10 million online traders) and 2.1 million ATMs in 160 countries and territories around the world, adds.



China UnionPay (CUP) system, established in 2002, is the most common card system in the world, with more than 6.5 billion issued cards, making up almost 50% of the world market. Currently, UnionPay cards are issued in more than 40 countries and territories around the world. CUP has established partnerships with more than 1,500 institutions, supports state-of-the-art payment technologies, including payments to contact-free cards, mobile phone payments and payments on the Internet, according to the NBS.
