Sea route Bar-Bari-Bar discontinued

The only maritime route between Montenegro and Europe, Bar-Bari-Bar, was once again discontinued on December 1, as the agreement between the Montenegrin state company Barska Plovidba and Croatia's Jadrolinija, signed last summer, had expired.

– The passenger boat Dubrovnik no longer operates between Bar and Bari – the president of the Board of Directors of Barska Plovidba, Captain Ljubo Kocovic, confirmed for the Jedro Bar portal.

He said that the members of the board of directors, representatives of state capital, are intensively working on following the market and finding a way for Barska Plovidba to purchase a used passenger boat and relaunch the sole maritime line to Italy, that is, Europe.

– Specifically, Captain Radojica Lazarevic, along with the technical sector of Barska Plovidba, is dedicated to this issue, which is important not just for the state company, but for the City of Bar and the economy of Montenegro and the region as well. We have set the goals of relaunching the maritime line, keeping the Montenegrin maritime company in Bar, which the tradition obliges us to do, as well as the total economic prosperity – Captain Kocovic said and pointed out that Montenegro needed to have an exit to Europe by sea, through Bar to Bari.

Professionals who now head Barska Plovidba believe that a used passenger boat can be bought for EUR 5-6 million.
