This type of protection is far more complex than a hologram and impossible to copy.
The scales are not visible to the naked eye, as their size measures in hundreds of microns. Once they are extracted from the wings, they are “smart-printed” into the object, and their small dimensions make it impossible for forgers to know which part of a bill or an artwork contains them.
A single wing can be used to protect 100,000 bills, making each one unique, whereas, on the other hand, the hologram featured on bills is the same on each bill and copying one means copying all of them.
Butterfly wings are made of 200,000 scales and there are no two identical ones in the world, making this form of protection the best one for bills, cards and artworks.
The head of the Innovation Center of the Institute of Physics, Sasa Lazovic, says that Teslagram has been copyrighted globally through three patents and a trademark.
He says that they intend to use this type of protection on plasticized cards such as I.D. cards, credit cards, cards providing entrance into secured areas, and that the same kind of protection can be used on bills and artworks.
