The Iranian airline Iran Air plans to launch a direct line between Tehran and Belgrade this winter season.

As the Aviatica portal reports, the Iranian national airline filed a request for the issuing of a permit for operating regular flights on the route between Tehran and Belgrade. Flights should be launched soon, during the winter flight schedule, and there should be two flights a week.

Iran Air regularly used the Belgrade Airport as a fuel stop in the past years, while under the EU sanctions. Those were technical flights and there was no possibility of passenger transport from and to Belgrade.

There has been great interest in establishing regular traffic between Iran and Serbia for some time now due to the increasing tourist demand on both sides. Iranian tour-operators visited Serbia last year in order to test the options for bringing Iranian tourists to the country.
