Thanks to FAO, new wool shipments depart from Pešter to Liverpool
Processing of the wool from Pešter has started recently in Bradford, near Liverpool. With the help of the FAO World Programme, this wool is delivered by Collective Farm Sjenička ovca from Trijebinje, near Sjenica.
Edib Rahić, acting director of the collective that was formed through joining of the farmers from Pešter, announced that first to go had been the towtruck loaded with 15 tons of baled raw wool, after which, due to satisfaction of the buyers, several shipment of that kind would depart from Pešter at the end of February, since delivery of total of 150 tons had been agreed on.
Office of FAO in Sjenica backs the farmers of Pešter a lot. It brought them into contact with the buyers and bought them equipment for packing and baling of wool. Back in 2004, FAO help them organize their first agricultural fair. Through FAO, the farmers from Pešter also receive new sorts of wheat, corn, potato…
