The National Bank of Serbia (NBS) has unified the data on costs and compensations charged by financial institutions in sending money abroad and receiving money from abroad for natural persons and ten states – Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, Great Britain, the USA, Canada, Montenegro, B&H and Croatia.

As the NBS says in its press release, this has been done for the purpose of transparency of compensations in payments to and from abroad.

The data sources are institutions which send and receive money to and from abroad (banks, payment institutions and the PE Post of Serbia) for natural persons. Data for the OUR option (sender handles the costs) are shown – through open bank accounts of the sender and the recipient for banks, though services Western Union, MoneyGram, RIA Money Transfer for payment institutions and through an international postal money order.

The said overviews are of informative character exclusively and aim to show to citizens what the various compensations and expenses related to these transfers are, whereas in order to get precise data, one needs to contact the competent institutions, the NBS reminds.

– Keeping in mind that financial institutions which perform these jobs also charge for the service in line with their tariffs, we advise citizens to be informed in detail about the possible ways and conditions of making a transaction, as well as all compensations and expenses and the expected time of the transaction before sending or receiving money, and then to pick the way they want to send the money and the financial institutions whose services fit their needs – the NBS press release says.
