Ricardo Certification to monitor construction of Belgrade-Budapest railway

Ricardo Certification has been selected as the notification authority in the project of the construction and modernization of a high-speed railway through Serbia on the Belgrade-Novi Sad-Subotica-state border (Kelebija) section, within the international Belgrade-Budapest project.

The contracts the Infrastructure of the Serbian Railways signed with the Dutch company define that the company is to verify the technical specifications of interoperability for five subsystems within the railway modernization project.

These are subsystems of infrastructure, energy, control, management and signalization, rail tunnel safety and access to the railway system to the disabled, says the press release by the Infrastructure of the Serbian Railways sent to Tanjug.

The contract has been signed for a period of five years, and the notification authority will be in charge of performing checks in order to determine whether the railway is being built in line with European standards, among other things.

In line with the Law on Safety and Interoperability of Railways, the verification of these five railway subsystems is a requirement for the Directorate for Railways to issue the exploitation permit following the construction, the press release adds.
