Russian IT company Yandex looking to invest in Serbia

The minister without a portfolio in charge of innovation and technological development, Nenad Popovic, said that the most renowned Russian innovation and technology company, Yandex, was looking to come to Serbia and invest in the IT sector, the website of the Government of Serbia says.

What Yandex has done in Moscow with its applications for navigation and transportation systems is recognized worldwide as one of the most modern technological formulas for smart cities, the minister pointed out.

According to him, the Russian giant also develops other innovative and IT products in all spheres, from transport to medicine, meant for wide implementation in numerous countries, especially in the markets of Russia and other former Soviet countries.

– Yandex is Russia's Google. The arrival of one such company to Serbia would largely contribute to the development of our innovation and IT community, which would bring the latest technological and innovation achievements to our country – Popovic said.

The minister pointed out that Yandex was also interested in preparing digital navigation maps of Serbia, which would be the basis for all other geoservices that could be developed in the country, whereby Serbia would create conditions for the number of Russian tourists to increase.
