Mayor of Belgrade Sinisa Mali attended the presentation of the new Mei Ta factory building in Obrenovac today and said that the construction was expected to be completed by the end of 2018.
– Mei Ta now employs 800 people from Obrenovac and the surrounding area, as well as Belgrade. Our friends from China are very satisfied with the work of the employees, and now they've decided to build a new factory as well and invest no less than EUR 100 million. The construction is scheduled to begin in late February or early March, whereas the completion is expected in September or October – Mali pointed out.
According to him, the new factory will take up 55,000 square meters, and once it starts operating, it will enable the number of employees to rise to a total of 2,500, including the 800 people employed in the company's first factory.
The president of the municipality of Obrenovac, Miroslav Cuckovic, reminded that the first Mei Ta factory had been presented in the same location on February 24, 2016, whereas the manager of the Mei Ta factory, Chan Ching Chen, said that the investment of the Chinese company in Serbia was developing successfully.
– In the upcoming period, we will continue developing, hoping that we will continue to be a good opportunity for employment for people of Obrenovac and Serbia – Chen said.
The website of the municipality of Obrenovac announces that a day of open interviews for everybody interested in working for Mei Ta will be organized on February 3 at the city's Gymnasium. The conversations, as announced, will take place from 8 am till 2 pm, and all candidates should bring their CVs. By mid-2018, around 600 workers should be employed at the factory, says the website of the local self-government.
