Area of Mokra Gora under protection of State to become natural reservation, Englishmen gave up intention to open ferro-nickel mine
On the conference in Mokra Gora, director of the Institute for Preservation of Nature of Serbia, professor Lidija Amidžić, represented the Study on putting this area under permanent protection of the State.
The Study, which was designed by the Institute for Preservation of Nature of Serbia, concerns permanent protection of 3,678 ha between Tara mountain and Šargan, which encompasses area of Mačkat, Zaovina, Beli Rzav canyon and Uvce gorge. Of total of 3,678 ha, 350 ha would be under protection the kind natural reservations have. Area of Mokra Gora, some 40 km from Užice, on the border with Republic of Srpska, is famous by its "Šarganska osmica", outdoor railway museum, Ethno-film village of Emir Kusturica, unique natural characteristics and tourist potentials.
