His company manages property worth around USD 35 billion, and they entered the telecommunications business in 2013 by purchasing 65.9% of the Czech telecom operator O2 for close to USD 2.5 billion from the Spanish giant Telefonica. It also owns the company CETIN, which deals with telecommunications infrastructure.
PPF has declined to comment on their alleged negotiations about the acquisition of Telenor's companies in Central and Eastern Europe, whereas Telenor said when the information that the offer had been declined was published that it would not comment on the issue at all until they assessed the quality of the offer before the end of the first quarter, Danas reports.
There have been speculations in Serbian media that the company which made the offer to Telenor is the American investment fund KKR. Also, according to the regional media, the offer is worth EUR 2 billion, without the Hungarian branch.
Telenor recently announced that it had received an unsolicited offer by an investor for the companies in CEE and said that it would be assessing the offer in the first quarter of 2018 in order to see what the biggest benefit for the shareholders would be.
