Postponement of sale of the Valjevo Brewer
Tax Administration of Serbia has postponed the auction for sale of property of the Valjevo Brewer, which was supposed to take place on November 7, 2008, due to unpaid tax.
The auction for sale of complete property of the Brewer, which is 165 years old, at the price of 641.2m RSD, was scheduled because of the debts for unpaid excise taxes and income taxes of about 200m RSD in the time of privatization in 2003.
The Director of the Valjevo Brewer, Slavica Tomašević, said earlier to the press that, since that time, that company had been able to "pay interests, while the principal of the debt was not even touched since all other obligations (value added tax and workers' allowances) were paid to the state on regular basis".
The Valjevo Brewer has 240 workers and few thousands of hectoliters of beer on stock.
The Valjevo Brewer was sold on the second auction in 2003 to the consortium of Belgrade-based Atlas Group, which included Triglav osiguranje, Ekspres Gradina and former Atlas and present Piraeus bank.
According to the today's ad about postponement of sale of property of the Valjevo Brewer, "the date of the auction for sale of property of tax debtor will be consequently announced".
