The project worth EUR 5.5 million also entails the construction of a new road in Hungary, 2,309 meters long, as well as the rehabilitation of a 1,365-m route in Serbia, it was said yesterday during the presentation of the project in Novi Sad, as reported on the website of the Provincial Government.
The president of the Assembly of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina, Istvan Pastor, emphasized that the project, once it is completed in slightly over a year, would fulfill the decades-long dream of the residents of this area on both sides.
– After twenty years, conditions for the opening of a permanent border crossing point between Kubekhaza and Rabe, within the IPA program and the strategic projects between Serbia and Hungary, have met. Whenever a new border crossing point opens, traffic is relaxed, whereas, on the other hand, this is also a very important project for northern Banat – Pastor emphasized.
The director of the Urban and Spatial Planning Institute of Vojvodina, Predrag Knezevic, said that, according to the plan, the project should be completed by September 2019.
The leading partner in the project is the Hungarian National Infrastructure Development Corporation NIF, together with partners PE Roads of Serbia and PE Urban and Spatial Planning Institute of Vojvodina, says the website of the Provincial Government.
