(Danijela Cabarkapa and Rados Gazdic) Representatives of the Development Agency of Serbia (DAS) and the Japanese Business Alliance in Serbia (JBAS) signed a Memorandum on cooperation yesterday, the aim of which is to achieve a more efficient coordination of activities in the process of enhancing the economic cooperation of Serbia and Japan.
The Memorandum was signed by the acting director of the DAS, Rados Gazdic, and the executive director of the JBAS.
The DAS announced that it would carry out joint activities with the JBAS in the future in connecting business entities of the two countries to the end of strengthening business connections and cooperation, organizing education of business people and joint events meant for sharing experiences, informing about business options, sharing information about the main economic indicators and economic trends, promoting Serbia as a potential investment destination for Japanese companies and providing support in operations of the two countries’ business entities in the markets of Serbia and Japan.
– The cooperation between Serbia and Japan has been on the rise in the past years, and this Memorandum is supposed to contribute to an even better economic cooperation and the connecting of Serbian and Japanese business entities to the end of economic development of our country. Serbia is a country of big Japanese investments, such as: Japan Tobacco international in Senta, Yazaki in Sabac, Panasonic Lighting Devices in Svilajnac and Kansai in Gornji Milanovac, which employ several thousand workers. We hope that there will be even more such investments – Gazdic pointed out.
He reminded of the cooperation with the Japanese institutions JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency) and JETRO (Japan External Trade Organization), which began in 2002 though employee training courses and expanded to include implementation of joint projects in 2005.
– The cooperation between the DAS and the JBAS will also take form of getting to know the Japanese business culture more closely to the end of transferring the experiences of Japan and their implementation in Serbia. The cooperation both institutions have with the Japanese institutions JETRO, in the field of economic cooperation, and JICA, in the field of support to small and medium companies, will be further strengthened and enhanced through direct communication, advice and recommendations of Japanese business circles gathered within the JBAS, which will also contribute to a further improvement of business conditions and a further growth of the Japanese business community in Serbia – Cabarkapa said.
The signing was also attended JBAS board members Naoki Tsukada, head of the Mitsubishi Corporation Belgrade representation, Milos Boricic, development manager at Mitsubishi Corporation Belgrade, Jovica Lukic, manager of Astellas Pharma Belgrade for Serbia, as well as representative of JICA and JETRO.
