IKEA is planning to build a retail park next to the department store in Bubanj Potok, but also another department store in Belgrade, says Vladislav Lalic, Regional Property & Expansion Manager at IKEA South East Europe.
– We are continuing to expand the investment in Serbia. We are planning to build a retail park next to the department store, which is currently in the planning stages. We have prepared the feasibility study – Lalic said and added that “a long-term opening of the second department store in Belgrade” was also planned.
As he said, the retail park is an investment the value of which would amounts to EUR 50 million, and the commercial area is supposed to amount to around 30,000 square meters, which would also include other traders.
Lalic points out that IKEA is also planning the construction of collection points in Serbia in order to reduce expenses for purchasers in, for example, Subotica, Nis and Novi Sad, where there is no potential for the opening of department stores at the moment.
As he says, IKEA is expanding its online operations as well.
Regarding the location for the construction of the second department store in Belgrade, Lalic reminded that it was not a secret that they were considering a location near the airport and that the potential location needed to be in close proximity to the main traffic routes.
Talking about the department store in Bubanj Potok, he pointed out that they were very satisfied with their operations and that they had had 1.23 million visitors in the first six months, from August 10, 2017 until the last week.
