Have you ever wondered what the most expensive countries in the world are? A table can tell a lot, but if that table is turned into a big colorful world map, results immediately become much more interesting. MoveHub used the data from the Cost of Living Index 2018 from Numbeo.com to make one.

Numbeo.com calculates the index by adding an enormous amount of data from thousands of users worldwide who enter consumer prices and costs in the places they live in. The index contains nearly 50 factors, from medium category restaurant meals to gym memberships, wine bottles and coffee cups.

When it comes to costs of living in Europe, there's a clear division. Eastern European states are much cheaper to live in, whereas life in Western Europe is very expensive. If you want to take a super cheap vacation in Europe, you should visit the Balkans, or go even further, to Ukraine, the cheapest country in Europe (113rd spot), followed by Moldova (101st spot).

On the other end of the list, it comes as no surprise that Switzerland is the most expensive country in Europe and the second most expensive one in the world.

Only Bermuda is ahead of Switzerland, and it is followed by Ireland, Norway, the Bahamas, Luxembourg, Denmark, Singapore, Japan and Israel.

Life in the land of chocolate, cheese and mountain air costs a lot. According to the research of the Expat Insider web page from 2017, Switzerland is also one of the least cordial countries in the world, so it's probably better to live in a cheaper and jollier place.

The cheapest places to live in are Pakistan, Egypt, Ukraine, Tunisia, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh and Algiers.
